I contacted Matthews headquarters by e-mail and directed to the exact spot where the number was engraved. I know I'm old, but blind too.
Old Pse Compound Bow
Here is their reponse: 'The serial number should be located on the riser towards the bottom cup. Hold the bow, as if shooting, so the backside is facing you and follow the backside down to where it meets the limb cup. There is a small space that the number should be engraved in.' The nice thing about contacting them is that my son is not the original owner but they are going to register the bow in his name.
Archery Compound Bows In archery and hunting, you may come to notice that there are many different types of bows and bow manufacturers available for you to choose from. One widely used type of bow is a compound bow. It's helpful to understand the features of a compound bow and how to choose a quality compound bow before making a purchasing decision. What are the standard features of a compound bow? There are many differences between a compound bow and other bows like recurve bows, crossbows, or longbows. Compound bows use a leveraging system to assist archers or hunters in bending the bow's limbs. This leveraging system helps shooters achieve improved momentum behind their shot.

More momentum means a fast arrow for deep penetration, long shooting distances, and reliable aiming. Shooters using compound bows may find that shooting is relatively easy: This is because of its pulley system. The mechanical components of the pulley take some of the strain off of the archer.
The limbs of a compound bow are rather rigid. This is because these types of bows use mechanical components to help archers gain better leverage. What things should you look before making a purchase? Before you begin the purchasing process, it's a good idea to understand what to look for in a quality compound bow. You will have some unique archery requirements as an individual, and choosing something that will complement you is important to your success in the target range or even when hunting this season. Decide if you need a right-handed or left-handed bow. You can decide this by knowing which of your eyes is dominant.

There are guides to help you figure out which eye your brain trusts more. Know what your draw length ought to be. Your draw length will directly correlate with your arm span.
You don't want to buy something with a draw length that's too long or short as it will make it difficult to shoot during archery. Choose one that is of quality design and construction. In the long run, you will want a quality crafted and lightweight option that will stand up to the test of time. Make sure to get one that matches your draw weight.
Your draw weight is simply how many pounds of pressure you can exert when pulling back on the string. Crossbows, for example, use mechanical components to assist with draw weight, though they are still usually quite difficult to pull back on if you don't have the proper muscle strength.
Does anybody know thing about this model?? I'm kinda new in the crossbow world, but I'm trying to learn. I was given this crossbow as a gift a couple of years ago. Be disable this is getting me back in the woods during bow season. So what arrows, lenght and nock should I be using?? I know this is a 150# draw crossbow so I picked up a few 20' 2219's, with 1/2 moon nocks at Gander Mnt, But to tell you the truth I'm not sure the kid knows anymore then I do about this crossbow.
I also picked up a BSA Red dot sight, it didn't last three shots, before falling apart. So now I have a older rifle scope mounted on a 7/8 rail, which I also had to add to this crossbow. When I got it from a friend, it didn't have any sights at all.:biggrinjester: A little help before something goes south, PLEASE. The 275-XB is an intermediate model made in the mid 1990's. 150#, wood stock, camo or laminated. It shoots a 20' 2219, 4-fletch, with the PSE Super Nock.
If you use V-nocks, you are inviting disaster! Also, three-fletch arrows will not give the clearances needed for the trigger housing, the rest, nor the arrow-retainer rubber. You should go to Gander Mountain and rip arse! Start with the kid who sold you the arrows, Then, rip his manager for putting your bow in danger out of ignorance.
Then go to the store manager and rip him for overseeing such a motley crew. Of course, you are just dealing with and enlarged version of Wal-Mart's sporting goods section, so don't expect them to care. I've got two older bows that were originally ment to shoot 16' arrows.
I've shot and do shoot 20' arrows from these two bows without problem. While neither are PSE, I'd bet that the bow won't care.

The accuracy does not seem to be effected. Many swear by the flat nocks, I only use the moon nocks. I feel they are a tiny bit safer as far as the string staying on the back of the arrow. Many will tell you that the moon style aren't as accurate. My shooting says that's not so. I have a few bad arrows to proove that. One arrow crashing into another gets expensive.
Don't shoot more than one arrow into a single dot on your target. Be carefull with your rifle scope. Mainly because it only has one sight line. I'd take the red dot back to G.M. And exchange it for another, maybe even another brand. Hello I found some info from Arrowhead in huntingPA.com OK it's the one pictured. There are no parts available for that bow.
You can still get custom made strings and cables for it. The arrows need a special nock that is similar to a nock used on a compound bow only much larger. They are difficult to find, but they are available. It will use a 2219 arrow with the special PSE nocks and you will need to measure from the trigger latch to the arrow rest, to get the proper length. The arrows take four vanes in a 4 fletch 75 degrees x 105 degrees pattern. The arrow rests seem to wear out and there are no replacement parts. Most guys use whatever means available to get a rest on them.
I've seen some with whisker type rests on them. I've shot a few of these. They are a piece of history and fun to shoot. (just don't ruin any arrows, they are $$$) The downside is that they are also very loud. Seems like he Knows what he is talking about read a lot of good things about him on huntingPA.com.
